Development Plans

Since 2022, our community has worked together to transform local facilities and create lasting amenities for people of all ages. Thanks to the support, dedication and generosity of our volunteers, residents and supporters, we have achieved the following:

Successfully acquired the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Community Field from the Diocese of Waterford through the Department of Agriculture, securing it for community use into the future.
Obtained planning permission for the redevelopment of the JFK Community Field, including dressing rooms, a gym, public amenities and a fully lit walking track around the field. We are proud to have now completed the illuminated community walkway, providing a safe and accessible space for recreation and exercise year-round.
Fundraised for and purchased land beside Knockanore National School, creating what is now KGK Community Park. We secured planning permission for an astroturf pitch, car park and playground, and have since completed a state-of-the-art, floodlit 60m x 40m astroturf facility, which is now open for hire and community use. We have also completed a fully equipped playground for local families and visitors to enjoy.
Leased the former HSE medical building, which remains part of our long-term vision to create a welcoming community hub incorporating tea rooms and multi-purpose space for local groups and activities.
Continued to actively fundraise and pursue new development opportunities to ensure the sustainability and growth of our community facilities.
Prepared for future phases of development by researching and engaging with the Sports Capital & Equipment Programme, positioning ourselves to take full advantage of funding opportunities when applications reopen.
While we are proud of what has been achieved so far, our work continues. With the support of the community, we will continue to invest in facilities and amenities that benefit current and future generations.
